This year the very auspicious month of Kartik is from Oct 18th to Nov 16th 2013.It is recommended that one offers a ghee lamp in the morning and evening to a picture of Lord Damodara. We chant the Damodarastakam while offering the lamp. The song describes the pastime of Mother Yashoda tying Lord Krishna and how the Lord with his belly tied to the grinding mortar steps out and fells the two Arjuna trees and thus delivers the two sons of Kuvera- Nala Kuvera and Manigriva.
